House Build
House Build

In theory development should get easier the more often you do it, but this, one of our first major building projects, was by far the most complicated at the time — largely because it has also been by the far the most ambitious. The house was built in a period style due to its location – an ultra modern home would have looked somewhat out of place in the heart of Bramhall village comprised largely of period properties. But we managed to put a modern twist on this classic design by making the interiors light and spacious, using smart technology throughout the house and adding a modern twist to this already luxerious goergian style build.

House Refurbishment
House Refurbishment

Property renovation is almost a right of passage for anyone hoping to climb the housing ladder but with ambitions beyond their means. Run-down houses can represent real bargain potential and can prove an excellent way to stretch a budget and get more home for your money. Renovation is not without its risks, however, and the first-time renovator can easily come unstuck, especially if they are tempted to rush into starting work without first taking stock of the structural condition of the property. Here at Britannia Developments we undertake projects no matter the size or budget, no job is to small! With our vast experience of building construction we are capable of refurbishing any property no matter the condition or size.

Underpinning
Underpinning

In construction or renovation, underpinning is the process of strengthening the foundation of an existing building or other structure. Underpinning may be necessary for a variety of reasons: The original foundation is simply not strong or stable enough. The usage of the structure has changed. Britannia Developments undertook this project in Alderley Edge cheshire with vision and the know how to finish to a high standard, with what would be considered a very difficult and dangerous refurbishment. We relish the opportunity here at Britannia Developments to provide the best quality solutions available in our field of work.

Underpinning a house prevents further movement by increasing the depth and support of the existing foundations. The standard way of doing this is to dig out short sections underneath the existing foundations and fill them in with concrete. Underpinning is a slow process, with each section having to be inspected before work can continue. It is also an expensive process but a necessity to safeguard the future of the property in question.

Works carried out to a Grad 1 listed Building

Excavated 4000m3 of Bed rock sand stone to accommodate swimming pool and leisure above.

Attached photos clearly show, careful underpinning and the support of a Grade 1 listed building throughout. The entire west end of the Building was fully supported by building foundation walls to support the existing full west end elevation above.

Continued Excavation.

Further Bed rock was excavated under the existing house now creating a reduced floor level. This created floor space now creating extra floor space for gym and leisure facilities.

For Britannia,

This entire project was the most challenging project ever accomplished.
