Exactly 100 years ago Sir James Reckitt opened the garden villagein Hull. His aim was simple, to improve the lives of the residents by creating state of the art accomodation that was affordable and of the highest quality.
The heart of the village consists of twelve self-contained houses, designed to give the maximum amount of comfort and requiring the minimum amount of domestic work. Each house has a light cheerful living room looking on the Village road, with comfortable bedroom annex, separate bathroom, and scullery, with hot and cold water service, and the usual conveniences all contained under the one roof.
One hundred years later Britannia Developments is planning to bring to the area a new facility to care for the regions older residents. Like Reckitt before us it is planned on simple foundations to create an easy style of cheerful living with comfortable accomodation designed with care for the residents.
